A Great Place to Live
Byron, Peach County, Georgia

Byron, Georgia, home to about 3,000 people, is located in Peach County, where more than half of Georgia's annual peach production comes from. The town was incorporated in 1874 and named after the famous poet, Lord Byron. By the 1920s, the Byron area was one of the most prolific peach growing areas in the South.

North Peach Park in Byron is a popular destination, with blueberry bushes, pecan trees and chestnut trees can be picked by the public. The extensive facilities include playgrounds, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, baseball diamonds, football and soccer fields, horseshoe pits and hiking paths.

The Downtown Farmers Market is a very special open-air market that allows area farmers to sell their freshly picked fruit and vegetables, handcrafted items and baked goods directly to the public. It's open on Saturdays from April until August in Jailhouse Park.

The Georgia Peach Festival is a week-long event that attracts about 10,000 visitors to the area every June. The festival occurs in the heart of a region that has been producing peaches ever since the first trees were planted here in the 1700s. You can even get a free sample of the "World's Largest Peach Cobbler" which is baked during the event, measuring 11-ft by five-ft, and eight-inches thick.

Real estate in Byron is usually reasonably priced, so buyers can often get a lot for their money, whether you are looking for 1,500 square feet or 4,000 or more.  Byron offers properties ranging from new construction to quaint 1930s-era bungalows, 1970s ranches with mature landscaping, and properties with acreage.
